Championship Pairs- Jones Cup and Jubilee Cup
Members of the “B” Section must come up to the “A” with 19 or more rating points.
Members of the “B” section are eligible to come up to the “A’ section with 12 or more rating points.
Any player with 19 or less rating points in the A section can still be eligible as substitutes in the B section.
Members from the A section can be called in to play in Jubilee Cup to make up a table but points will not count.
Winners of the Jubilee Cup have the option for moving up to the A at any time.
Members of the A section with 12 or less rating points are eligible to play in any pairs competition in the B section.
Jones Cup
A Section Pairs. Championship Competition. Partnerships must be notified to the convener. Any change of partnership must be notified before the third round starts. The best nine out of thirteen rounds will count and must be with your partnership partner. Play with substitute will not count.
The top 6 pairs from N/S and from E/W from the previous Jones Cup night to sit at tables 1-6 and toss for position, with the pair winning the toss sitting N/S.
Jubilee Cup
B Section Pairs. Championship Competition. Partnerships must be notified to the convener. Any change of partnership must be notified before the third round starts. To be eligible player must have 20 rating points or less. The best nine out of thirteen rounds will count and must be with your partnership partner. Play with substitute will not count.
Toss for position, with the pair winning the toss sitting N/S.
Langford Cup
Partnerships must have one player with 20 rating points or less and must not have played together in this competition in the previous year.They may play together if they have done so in the invitational pairs in the same year. Best five of six nights played from May to October. One substitute is allowed to make up the minimum of five nights.
O’Sullivan Cup - Handicapped
Entries must be notified to the convenor. Any change in partnership must be notified to the convener before the start of the third round. The best seven out of ten sessions will count and must be with your regular partner. Play with substitutes will not count. Partnerships must not have played together in the O’Sullivan Cup in the previous two years, must not be Championship Pairs partners and must not be playing in any club pairs (Section Pairs) in the current year.
Section Pairs
Entries must be notified to the convener. Any changes in partnership must be notified to the convener before the start of the second round. The original entry may then be counted as a substitution and not affect any future eligibility.
Eligibility, partnerships who have competed together in a pairs competition in the previous year, including Championship Pairs or who intend to be Championship or O’Sullivan Cup partners in the current year are not eligible. Partnerships may not play together in more than one paris competition in any year. One substitute is allowed in each pairs competition to make up the minimum of three nights.
Open Pairs – Handicapped
Pairs 1 and 7 are in the A Section are ‘Open’. B Section or A and B Section Partnerships are also eligible. Both pairs are handicapped. Rules for section Pairs apply.
Drawn Pairs – Gerrand Trophy and Houghton Trophy
Pairs 4 in A Section, and Pairs 6 in B Section will have partners drawn each night and a player will not play with the same partner for more than one night. The winner will be the player with the highest cumulative score over the three nights.
Teams of Four- Snowdon / Gerrand Trophy - Handicapped
Open Handicapped competition with no restrictions on entries. IMP scoring. One substitute per team per night plus one extra substitute over the four nights.
Werder – Stephens – Trophy
Held within B Section, any A player can play with any B section player. In the event of not having enough players to complete even partnerships of 1 person from each section, partners from the same section may be placed together but only after all other avenues have been exhausted. This is to ensure inclusion of Club players. The winner will be the pair with the highest cumulative score over the three nights. Rules for Section pairs apply.
